I'm Baasandorj Amartuvshin, Amraa in short. I'm a Mongolian throat singer and multi-instrumentalist from Chandmani, Khovd Province, in western Mongolia — one of the heartlands of Mongolian throat singing.
I grew up in a family deeply rooted in throat singing traditions. My father and uncle were both respected practitioners, and I learned the art of khöömii, throat singingfrom an early age, surrounded by the music and traditions of my homeland.
As a member of the internationally acclaimed ensemble Egschiglen, I've performed Mongolian traditional music on stages around the world. These experiences have given me a broad musical perspective while strengthening my connection to the traditions passed down through generations.
Through my lessons, I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with others, introducing students to the different techniques and styles of throat singing. My aim is to help each student develop their own voice while gaining a deeper understanding of the musical traditions and cultural heritage behind khöömii.
